Volvo P3 Configuration Changes with VDASH

A concise overview of common P3 configuration changes available in VDASH.

P3 configuration changes

Before you start

To change the configuration on P3 cars, you need to decode the CEM PIN via OBD with VDASH. The process is described here: https://d5t5.com/article/volvo-cem-pin-code

Applicable vehicles

This applies only to P3 (MY 2007-2019) cars:

  • V40II / V40CC
  • V60 / V60CC
  • V70III
  • S60II / S60CC
  • S80II
  • XC60
  • XC70III

Easy changes

These changes usually do not require major hardware replacement, although a small upgrade may be needed in some cases.

  • Activate standard cruise control (requires adding cruise control buttons on the steering wheel)
  • Activate trip computer (the left blinker lever may need to be replaced with a version that has a scroll wheel and RESET button)
  • Change region from USA to EU, EU to USA, or Japan to EU, including miles to kilometers, radio frequency step, and temperature units from °F to °C (DIM replacement may be needed because of a different speedometer scale)
  • Activate video in motion (available only for cars with Sensus or Sensus Connect)
  • Activate navigation (available only for cars with Sensus Connect - more info here: https://d5t5.com/article/volvo-navigation-activation-sensus-connect)
  • Deactivate Stop-Start function
  • Activate remote preconditioning from the car key (only for cars with independent fuel heater and model year 2012+)
  • Activate remote engine start (only for supported models - more info here: https://d5t5.com/article/remote-engine-start-from-car-key-ers)
  • Deactivate neutral control (only for cars with automatic transmission)
  • Activate independent heater timer (only for cars with fuel operated heater)
